Good cream puffs but green pandan waffles were disappointing. It is not fragrant and the texture is so so.

After reading all the rave reviews on Yelp of the durian puff at this place, I tucked the info into my backpocket, promising myself I'd drop by when I got the chance. Well, that chance came this week. It's a little hole in the wall bakery tucked into the corner of a strip mall filled mostly with Vietnamese businesses. The first thing I found odd was that there was very little on display - just one rack of buns, and there was no menu or list of items for sale. But since I already knew what I wanted, I asked for durian puffs. They were small and pricey at $1 each, but that wouldn't have mattered if they were good. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed that the taste of durian was very very mild. Totally not what I was expecting from the review i read. My son, who hates even the faintest whiff of fresh durian, tried one and liked it. Well, at least one of us liked it :-) So anyway, this review is really to warn fellow durian lovers out there: you're better off trying the durian cake from the Napoleon bakery in Oakland. Now that's the real deal if you're hankering for durian.
